Whosoever has not done shit in their life has not lived. To pay a tribute to Manzoni, who, despite dying young, left behind several iconic works of the second half of the 20th-century, is the civic duty of every visual artist who is at least a little serious.
I was given this chance in the winter of 2017 when, after many years, I was sorting out my studio, getting rid of useless things and rubbish. The installation that arose from this tender impulse was a transcendental fusion of Manzoni’s Merda d’artista, Warhol’s Brillo Soap Pads Box, a lucky charm, and Ikea’s self-service warehouse.
Paintings
The installation was crowned by my paintings examining the possibilities of anti-aesthetic plurality.
